Wellington is a co-founder of Wellington Legal.

Wellington was born in Malaysia and has studied in Singapore, Australia and Canada. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School with an LL.B and admitted as a lawyer in Ontario, Canada. Wellington came to Hong Kong in 1997. He was admitted as a Hong Kong solicitor in 1999 and as a partner of a leading Hong Kong law firm in 2004.

Wellington’s main focus is civil and commercial litigation and has represented private individuals, SMEs and listed companies (both Hong Kong and overseas) in a wide variety of disputes, including, shareholder disputes, derivative actions, mareva injunctions, corporate insolvency proceedings, norwich pharmacal applications, white collar crime etc. He is also experienced in regulatory matters and other disciplinary proceedings.

Moreover, Wellington also advises on employment and immigration matters.

Wellington is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

Company and Commercial Dispute

  • Representing a minority shareholder of a company listed on Bursa Malaysia Berhad against the director of its subsidiary in Hong Kong concerning a non-arm's-length transaction with claims over HKD600 million
  • Advising an Australian listed company based in Singapore in a dispute arising from an outstanding letter of credit issued by a purchasing agency acting as a sizable clothing retailer (being bankruptcy under United States Code Chapter 11)
  • Advising a sizable electronic manufacturing company listed on Singapore Exchange in the acquisition of its subsidiary in relation to the performance of covenants and warranties of the buyer. Advising the buyer in the later acquisition of the above subsidiary company concerning the warranties in reorganization
  • Advising and representing a minority shareholder in a shareholder dispute concerning setting up a joint holding company in Hong Kong for a real estate development project
  • Advising a clothing retailer company listed on HKEx concerning the rights under license agreements with well-known brands around the world
  • Representing a South Korean investment fund and a Chinese investor in a dispute for the investment of a solar battery development joint venture company
  • Advising a sizable electronic manufacturing company listed on Singapore Exchange on issues for importing electronic components to China
  • Representing investors of Lehman Brothers derivatives against financial agency to claim for damages
  • Representing a previous director of a hedge fund and the employee thereof defending the embezzling confidential information and misconduct claims by the hedge fund in litigation
